Savannah competed with the Northside Rams 6-7 year old squad (pee wee) and won their regional competition this past weekend in Winfield, AL. Go Savannah!!

Madison competes with the 8-9 year old squad (Juniors) and they also won their regional competition. Both squads bringing home the First Place trophy. Congratulations to them both and we love you so much.

Roll Tide and Auburn causing some waves!

I know I have not been here very much as this year was a rough one for me as indicated on my other blog, however things are moving along and so is our football season. We are more than half way through the season and things have gone about like we thought. I didn't think we would continue undefeated again after the last couple of seasons. However we are still in line for all the marbles if we can just win the rest of our games. We are all giving Coach Saban a big Roll Tide in hopes he can motivate our troops into a big win over LSU in a couple weeks. That will be our biggest test of the year, then we only have the #3 ranked Auburn Tigers coming into Tuscaloosa at the end of the season. They are undefeated and have a Heisman Trophy candidate QB as they are trying to emulate our season last year. Even though I have to hate Auburn it is sort of neat that one of the best teams in the country is ALSO from Alabama this season. Anyway, Alabama hopes to take care of them come November, so ROLL TIDE!!! Congratulations on the big win over Tennessee yesterday 41-10.

A close up look at our new TROPHY!

The line was long and I didn't spend the time, but it was nice to get an up close and personal look at Bama's new BCS National Championship Trophy. The Waterford Crystal was very pretty and worth $30,000 they say, so that's always nice to be close to. The University was nice to share it with the community so fast, as we were such a huge part of the team's success this year with our suspport. The picture below has a little trickery to it. National Champions again in College Football

Congrats go out to my University. Roll Tide!!!! The Alabama Crimson Tide won the 2009 college football National Championship for the 13th time in our storied history. Our boys defeated the Texas Longhorns 37-21 in a hard fought game that saw us taking out their heisman trophy candidate QB very early on with a direct hit, so to speak. Personaly I felt a little down at that point because I wanted to beat them at full strength, but with the way our defense played I really do not think it would have mattered in the end. Our Heisman Trophy winner, Mark Ingram and his freshman back up Trent Richardson BOTH ran for over 100 yards rushing and 2 TD's EACH. An amazing one-two punch that will be terrorizing opposing teams again next year. Thank you for an amazing season Bama and for bringing home the crystal ball back to T-Town. It's being displayed in Wal-Mart tomorrow, lol..ok yea I said Wal-Mart. Only in Alabama. But life is good! Texas was very classy and played a great game, especially their freshman QB that really started growing up toward the end of the game. He will be a good one next year I'm sure. So again, Roll Tide! Watch for our "Tide" when we visit the White House soon and maybe I can work my way into the Championship Parade that we will have through downtown and the U of A campus! Gotta love it!

The Heisman Trophy

I just had to give a shout out to our favorite running back for The University of Alabama football team for winning the 2009 Heisman Trophy. Mark Ingram became Alabama's first ever winner of college football's best athlete. His emmotional, humble and tearful speech touched the hearts of many across the nation but none more than here in Tuscaloosa, AL. I was in a restaurant at the time the trophy was announced and the crowd went wild. It has been a lot of fun this year being a Crimson Tide fan. I hope we can do just one more thing this season, and beat those pesky Longhorns from Texas on January 7th. Roll Tide and congratulations again to Mark Ingram!

My beloved U of A football team has once again swept through their regular season schedule undefeated, 12-0, for the second straight year. We love our football around here and have literally waited all year for the chance to play Florida again, since they ruined our season last year. Like a story book, they have stayed number ONE all year long after winning the national championship last year. Our time did come, just as we had hoped, a chance to play them again for this years SEC Championship. #1 vs #2.

This past Saturday we came together as a community, a state, a fan base, alumni and lovers of college football. We took what we learned last year when the mighty gators took us down in the 4th quarter. We did not finish, we were out classed by a better team. We worked this entire season to finish what we started, to finish our quarters, our games, our season, our year. To finish our year, we had to beat Florida. We had to decrown the defending national champions. We rolled in confident, deliberate, and with an ability we had not had the previous year. The ability to finish. Not only did we finish, but we turned up the heat and brought it the entire game with a level those Gators had not seen before. From the first snap to the last, Alabama controled the game. We held the ball for almost 40 out of the 60 minutes that a college football game last. Keeping Tebow and the Gators off the field, denying them, controling them.

As time ticked down, and Tebow had been chased off the field for the last time. Alabama methodically drove down the field again, one back at a time, mostly the senior Upchurch running down the clock, one first down after another. With the score 32-13, we could have easily scored again. But with the nation watching and an SEC title securly in hand. Alabama showed the nation class. Unlike what you see with some "other" teams around the nation, Alabama closed the door, shut it down, and took a knee. Showing appreciation to Florida for a game well played and showing the nation that Alabama is back on top. Both teams had good things to say about each other, praising God and thanking all the fans. It was a very classy afair and I hope the nation took notes on how to play a solid, hard hitting, well fought, yet classy football game.

On to Pasadena, CA for the national championship on January 7th against the great Texas Longhorns. It promises to be a huge game!! Roll Tide!

Games are getting harder!!!

A hard fought ESPN night game on a cold Saturday night gave us a little bit to worry about. We couldn't seem to pass the ball and we just couldn't get things to flowing smoothly. The defense of course was dominating and they have gone two games in a row now without giving up a touchdown. All we had to do was figure out how to score. So we put our offense in the hands of Mark Ingram in the 4th quarter and he took snaps out of the "Wild Tide" and just ran it straight at 'em. He ran up almost 250 yards of rushing and scored the games only offensive touchdown to put Steve Spurriers #22 South Carolina Gamecocks away for good, 20-6. Roll Tide!!

I may not have time for my chat Tuesday night so if I'm not in the chat room Tuesday I may have cancelled it, sorry if I have to. Have a great week!

No more Rebeling and a 10K

Alabama dominated the "wannabe" Ole Miss Rebels Saturday with a strong defensive performance defeating the once 4th ranked University of Mississippii football team 22-3. It was scary at times how good their defense was, keeping us out of the endzone, but our great running backs ran up the ground game and pounded field goal after field goal, with the exception of Mark Ingrams 36 yard 4th down run to keep Bama undefeated and in the National Title hunt. Roll Tide!!!

Also you may notice above I am holding a plague with a 3rd place finish on it. This is homecoming week at the University so I kicked things off by running in the Roll Tide Run 10K road race Sunday. I ended up going the wrong direction (along with a few others) because of a bad marking, but still put on a sprint display that would have made Usane Bolt proud, lol! I finished 3rd out of the females and ran it in roughly 55 minutes, however I think I could have cut about 2 or 3 minutes off that if I had not gone the wrong way. Anyway, it was fun and I enjoyed getting my little award!

Bama cooks up some Wildcat.

The Alabama football team went to 5-0 and solidified their #3 ranking with a win over SEC opponent Kentucky Wildcats this Saturday. I watched it with my gameday shirt on and cheered them on while watching a few others games at the same time. Just what I do, lol. After the game we took a short drive to watch my niece Madison cheer on her pee wee Rams to victory. She loves her cheerleading and her mom makes up most of the cheers, although her Aunt Kristi reminded mom of all the cheers I used to do when I was in high school so I hope that helped! College Football Is The Best!

If you know me, you know Fall Saturdays are my College GameDay for all that is football!! Some girls love shopping, some love running or working out(ok I do to of course), but on Saturdays I'm watching FOOTBALL. Don't ask me why, maybe I give my dad credit, but I've just always loved the traditions, colors and unique differences that make up college football. There are some teams I hate, some I like and some I love. Of course I graduated from The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, AL. I have 3 degrees from there and went through a few rough football seasons during those years. The last few I have enjoyed to say the least and this year is going very well so far. It's just fun to sit back, snacking on my football snacks (veggies and dip - fat free of course, and maybe some pretzels) while taking in all the ESPN GameDay color and predictions.

Our first game was against a very highly ranked tream, Virginia Tech #7 in the country. We beat them 34-24. They have since won the rest of their games and are ranked back to #6 now I believe so that win is looking really good for us. We then went on to beat Florida International 40-14, North Texas 53-7 and an SEC arch rival Arkansas 35-7. We are now ranked #3 behind Florida and Texas. I hope we conitnue to do well so maybe we will get a shot at playing one or both of them before the season is over.

So when Saturday is here and you wonder where I am. Just look for me in front of my TV or TV's (multiple games are better than one) with my "don't bother me I'm watching the game" shirt on. Happy flexing and gaming! - Kristi

As I find myself becoming more involved in current events and our economy, I decided to create a new blog for my health and fitness lifestyle. When you get to my website now you have a choice to go between my OPINIONS blog and my FITNESS blog. If you want to get into my boring opinions about government and finances then you can easily go there instead of my exciting recipes, photo's, Alabama sports comments and competition updates.
